“Ted Cruz is a very unstable guy,” Trump said early in the presser, sending TV news networks into a Twitter ecstasy. “I haven’t been doing this long, but I have never ever met a person that lies more than Ted Cruz. I’ve never seen anything like it,” the real estate magnate said, ticking off the Cruz campaign antics during the Iowa caucuses, and subsequent rannygazoo.
During the debate, Trump got asked if he still believed, as he had said at some point long before launching his campaign, that George W. should have been impeached. His response: “Obviously the war in Iraq big fat mistake” noting we all make mistakes but “that one was a beauty.” Jeb Bush responded, in so many words:I love my mom, my dad and my brother. Trump shot back that Babs Bush should be running. Marco Rubio jumped in to thank George W. for “keeping us safe.” Trump dove on that: “How did he keep us safe when the World Trade Center came down? I lost hundreds of friends… He kept us safe?” For which Trump got wildly booed on Saturday night in the hall. Glenn Beck that night marveled that CBS viewers were watching “the world’s first self lynching,” though current polling would seem to suggest otherwise.
